The Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling

Meet some of the individuals who are dedicated to fostering the growth of Reformed congregations in pastoral care, counseling, and discipleship through the interpersonal ministry of the Word.

Dr. Jared Poulton

Executive Director
Jared Poulton serves as Executive Director of the Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling, as well as pastor of counseling and teaching at Cornerstone URC, and visiting professor of biblical counseling at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in biblical counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His writing has been published at the Biblical Counseling Coalition, the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and the London Lyceum.

Jared lives in Hudsonville, Michigan, with his wife and four children. When he is not working, Jared enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Michigan with his family.

Dr. Jeff Doll

Director Emeritus and Shepherd’s Way Director
Dr. Jeff Doll is the Director Emeritus of the Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling, having founded IRBC in 2007. His vocational journey has included serving as a principal and teacher in private Christian schools in New York and Maryland, as well as pastoring four congregations over the years. Most recently, he ministered as Pastor of Biblical Counseling at Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Hudsonville, Michigan, where he and his wife remain active members. 

Jeff’s most profound joy comes from his roles as husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He considers it a privilege to serve the Lord through the everyday rhythms of family life and within the fellowship of his beloved church community.

Mr. Gary Fisher

Education Coordinator
Mr. Gary Fisher joined the IRBC in February of 2023 and currently serves as the education coordinator, with particular emphasis on the Basic Training Course in Reformed Biblical Counseling.

Gary studied at Grand Valley State University and, in 1972, accepted the position of Broadcast and Recording Engineer there, with duties that included mentoring television and radio production students. He went on to found Spectrum Electronics, Inc., an engineering consulting firm that worked with an international clientele. Fisher was also an administrator for several early online social media forums, as a Sysop on the CompuServe platform.

Gary has served multiple terms as an elder in the CRC, the ARC, and the URCNA, and since 2010 has served as the webmaster for the United Reformed Churches in North America. Gary and his wife are members of Bethel URC in Jenison, Michigan. They have been blessed with five adult children and fifteen wonderful grandchildren.

Mrs. Kerry Poulton

Resource and Communications Manager
Mrs. Kerry Poulton holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia International University, as well as having completed additional studies in biblical counseling at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to serving as a pastor’s wife and homeschool mom, she brings to the IRBC an editorial eye, as well as management and organizational skills.

Kerry is a member of Cornerstone URC and lives in Hudsonville, Michigan, with her husband and three children.

Mrs. Deanne Carbone

Media Specialist
Deanne Carbone holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is the founder and principal of Deanne Carbone Design, a bespoke graphic design and branding studio, and serves as media specialist for the Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling.
 
Deanne lives in Jenison, Michigan and has been a member of Cornerstone URC since 1995. She is married, the mother of three daughters, has two sons-in-law, and is blessed to be “Mimi” to her four beautiful grandchildren. When she is not working, she is entertaining, reading, gardening, singing, teaching, or walking her beloved dog, Bear.
